Last week my plan was to have a busy week but that's not how things turned out... I got a bad cold and was grounded all week. Lots of hot tea and books. Not the worst way to spend a week. |
More tea....and a look at an old autograph book I bought a while back. Why are they just so charming? I seriously think we need to bring them back. |
Can you resist this? (This is a good idea for a couple of pages in a glue book.) |
Just in case you need the info..... |
I finally managed to make it into my studio and had fun playing some wax seals. I know a lot of folks have been using wax seals for ages but I have only recently started and I love it. |
I want to put them on envelopes in the mail but I don't think they will make it through the postal system... |
Made up a small batch of mini collages on ATCs.... |
Don't you love his hair? |
Glad you are on the mend. Love all the goodies you posted. Always so inspiring. Love your seal with the little envelope and the bee. Just received my copy of Ephemera. Can't wait to dig in. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your copy of Ephemera -- I am sure enjoying mine but it makes me want to run out and look for stuff!! lol Thanks for the comment -- always appreciated.
DeleteTrying to stay warm in Mid Michigan - my Ephemera book from Upper Case has just arrived and it is pure eye candy - loving it!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes -- eye candy for sure! I wonder why I didn't hear about it and submit my ephemera? I sure do have a lot of great stuff. And my stamp bundles -- i didn't see any in the book. Stay warm -- I have been hearing about your crazy weather.
DeleteI love your sophisticated seals. Will be heading off to buy a copy of the Ephemera book -- it's new to me. You always have such good sources on your site. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDelete--Annette
Thanks, Annette. You have to order the Ephemera book online at the Uppercase website. It really is wonderful to see so many beautiful collections. The problem is, it makes me want to ADD to my collections and I am running out of room.....
DeleteBummer you were sick but hope you're feeling better! I received a wax seal from a pen pal recently and like you am excited about the possibilities of using one. I don't own one yet but would love to know where you found the envelope wax seal in your photo... It's absolutely precious. I also can confirm that the seals do indeed arrive in tact. I had a wax seal letter arrive all the way from India once. xo
ReplyDeleteWow -- a seal from India??!!? How cool is that? Ok, maybe I will try it. I know way back in the day they went through various postal systems but that was before all the new machines...I have a couple of envelopes i bought at a flea market in France that had three seals on each envelope. Somebody really wanted security. And that envelope seal? Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm maybe you will be seeing one sooner than you might think........
DeleteDelighted to read that you are feeling better. Thanks for the photos and I have also received my priceless Ephemera book...love it! Your concern about wax seals getting through the postal system is valid UNLESS you purchase flexible wax that guarantees your seal getting through the mail :) I've tried both and the "flex" component of newer wax gets through everytime.
ReplyDeleteHi Linda -- thank you, I am back in business. I think since I didn't get into the Ephemera book I should do a post on my own ephemera. God knows I have a whole lot of it. And isn't that book great? Hummmmmm flexible wax? Haven't heard of that...I just have the regular wax....
DeleteI am so sorry for being late to the party. I am so glad you are feeling better, but I have to admit, being sick with all these wonderful books surrounding you wasn't a bad way to get well.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who sent an envelope with a wax seal at Christmas. It didn't make it through our postal service, even though she paid extra for hand stamping the envelopes. Apparently, there are several different types of wax, so if you plan to buy any, you should ask if the wax is suitable for traveling through our postal system. My friend didn't ask until after she learned her wax seals didn't make it. The lady she bought the wax from told her the sealing wax was not intended to travel through the mail. WHAT?? Sounds like cheap wax to me! Hope this doesn't happen to you, dear Pamela.
The party is always going on! No worries. Thanks for the wax seal tips. So far I am using my wax seals on gift wrapped presents and tags and not sending them out through the mail....
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! For someone who was down with a cold, you sure did get much time in with some "fun" reading! Thanks for the enlightenment on the different books out there...I don't know if this is good or bad for me, and my purse! heeheehee
ReplyDeleteOh, and I agree, yes, bring back autograph books! how fun!
