PDG Visits the PDXCC

It took a while, but I finally made it to a PDXCC (Portland Correspondence Co-Op) meeting -- our sister mail art group started a bit more than two years ago by Niko Courtelis.
On all those shelves you see? Zines! Imagine that.

Here are Miss Polly and Niko giving some highlights of the evening's meeting...

Typewriters!
They have typewriters at every meeting....how cool is that? (And, BTW, I noticed that there are A LOT of typewriters in Portland).

JJAlltheWay is giving this one a workout.

Really.....what can I say about this beauty? Except I really wanted to take it home with me.

I brought a few things along for show-and-tell....

...including all six of my SFCC artistamp passports...

And -- lucky me -- Niko had a Will Call passport waiting for  me to finally pick it up.

Philatelic Atrocities

Of course, if you read my blog, you now I cannot leave things alone so I had to do a bit of altering in my new PDXCC passport....I added photos I took at the meeting and some of the artistamps Niko made...

That's a photo of me and Sugene, wonderful maker of zines, who I was happy to finally get to meet.

The AFTERPARTY!
Nostrama in PDX has a happy hour starting at 9PM. My kind of happy hour. So, after the PDXCC meeting we trooped over for cocktails and some pizza and salad....

Things up there in PDX are really just too much fun....I'm thinking that I have to go back. Soon. Very soon.

I'm lucky enough to have a collage and the book and recommend both.
And now -- I am off to a San Francisco Correspondence Meeting -- yup, two mail art meetings within  two weeks. Not bad.

A mail artist huddle....we had so much fun on Sunday....what happens when you put a bunch of mail artists in a room?

Anything can happen......Someone brought a set of vintage Black Cat Fortune Telling cards....

And, of course, everyone wanted to play.....I want a fortune that says
"You will get lots of good mail every day".

You might get an incredible cool banner made by TheArtfulReCrafter herself.....and our leader Miss JH got flowers and cupcakes to celebrate her five years of service heading up our group.

Bet you couldn't eat just one!

There were artistamps to paste in Postal Passports....

Angelique made the artistamps this month and we kept her busy pasting them in....

Monica and I showed everyone how to make origami wallets and there was a whole lot of folding going on there...

Show & Tell

So, cupcakes & flowers, a cool banner, fortune telling and folding origami wallets, show & tell and a swap table......
Kind of a great way to spend an afternoon, don't you think?
And we get to do it again in April.

I didn't get any mail yesterday and today and that isn't good. My birthday is coming right up so maybe you all are waiting.......I hope so, because an empty mailbox is a sad mailbox...
I spent today catching up on my outgoing.....
I'm not all caught up yet but I'm getting there.

XPF Passport -- Don't Leave Home Without It!

If you follow the Cappuccino&Art blog on Facebook you have been seeing loads of photos of the  unbelievable mail art event this pasty weekend here in San Francisco --

Thanks to Miss Red Letter Day herself (and her XPF team) this was three incredible days of mail art,
artistamps, panel discussions, rubber stamps, vending, meeting old friends and making new ones....
an event many of us will be talking about and thinking about for a very long time.

And did I mention the mail art passports?
Each day of the event had a special stamps and many of the participants brought along artistamps and rubber stamps to stamp in the passports.
The best souvenir ever!

One vender brought along a large set of vintage rubber stamps from a classroom and let everyone have at it --
Let the stamping begin.

Sticker Dude (and others) brought stickers and this absolutely lovely photo of the much missed mail art queen Patricia Taverner is by Susan Backman (bottom right).

There were rubber stamps and artistamps to purchase and all kinds of wonderful things to look at and two amazing panel discussions at the SF Library on West Coast Mail Art and Artistamps and the fabulous Mail/Art/Book show at SF Center for the book (which runs for quite some time so if you are in the the area try not to miss seeing that).

There were so many incredible things going on on for the past three+plus days I didn't even know what to show you all.
