A good frined of mine gave me a big bag of cancelled, old stamps and they are sitting in piles all over my studio....They have been giving me hours of pleasure and so many ideas for projects... |
I added some stamps (rubber & postage) to my outgoing mail........ |
Put a Bird on it! |
See what I mean? Back to messy again.... |
Like your messy desk. And all that wonderful collage mail. Woke up thinking I should sort stamps into categories this morning. Good project for a rainy day here. xox
ReplyDeleteCorrine, stamp-sorting going on back east too? Very relaxing on a rainy day....
DeleteLove and enjoy your posts! Wishing you a Happy Mail Year for 2016 📮
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, HalfmoonLilli -- so nice of you -- and I wish you happy mail for 2016 too! Thank you for commenting.
DeleteOh, the birds, the birds!
ReplyDeleteYes, put a bird on it, please!
Love your lovely mess!
Thanks, Lovely Dori -- I am going to make bird ATC's and of course i will have to send you one. xo
DeleteI enjoyed this post! I've always thought about how neat and tidy the work spaces are that I've seen on Pinterest, etc. and how unrealistic it is! Best wishes to you :-)
ReplyDeleteMichele, so glad you enjoyed the post -- I try to be neat and tidy but I just can't work that way........thanks for the good wishes and the comment.
DeleteMy art table looks a lot like yours! I've made some fun things using the leftover bits and bobs when I finally clean it off.
ReplyDeleteRight! So much fun to pick up those random bits, isn't it? Thanks for commenting and happy "making" to you.
DeleteMust admit I like my work table a bit on the messy side also. More conducive to creative happenings.
ReplyDeleteI like the bird ATCs. I work too hard at finding backgrounds that make sense, so I like thtat you slapped them on buildings and doors.
I'm all set for Christmas also, so relaxing for me from here on out, other than working every day but the 25th. Can't freaking wait to retire or at least go to part time.
Happy Holidays to you!
Well, Leslie...I was thinking birds sit on window sills and doors.....I know you have an in with the
ReplyDelete"boss" -- can't you get Xmas eve off? Happy holidays to you too.
I like it too! It looks like your studio is a nice space overall too.
ReplyDeleteCindy -- it is a nice space and I am still working on getting it fixed up.....when I finally do i will post some photos...
DeleteI love messy desks! So many treassures there.
ReplyDeleteRight you are! You never know what we find and make from our messy tables, right? Thanks for the comment.
DeleteMy layout table is like yours, always busy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the photos from the souk!
I see the rains have finally reached CA. Here in Cascadia we have had the wettest December on record, nearly 13 inches and counting, with a dusting of snow possible on Christmas day.
Warmest wishes for a healthy and creative New Year!
~ Jack @ Cascadia Artpost
Hi Jack! Funny -- I was just talking about you with Adrienne Mason (in town visiting from Canada). Very nice to see your name pop up here. Yes, we did get two wonderful days of rain here and we are hoping for (a lot) more.
DeleteThanks for stopping by the blog and commenting and best wishes for a happy and creative 2016 to you too. I will send you some mail.
Pamela
I love messiness too. Creative people are more likely to be messy!
ReplyDeleteCheryl....darn right we are -- and proud of it! Thanks for your comment and happy creating to you.
DeleteI like your mess! I sometimes think that's is a prerequisite for creativity.
ReplyDeleteHave a good Christmas Pamela!
Thanks, Marie -- happy holiday wishes going out to you too and I'm glad you like my messy table! I will get some mail out to you in January...
DeleteExactly how my desk looks no matter how much I attempt to be neat. I like the challenge of using whatever is on my desk to create collages, of course that rarely results in any kind of themed cards but that's OK. Thank you for all the creative inspiration you have provided this year! And, Merry Christmas to you!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, cjsrq -- I straighten up and then I am back to messy right away...but that is how I create! And you are most welcome for the inspiration -- so glad you enjoy the blog.)and so nice of you to say that) I love your work too. See you in the mail in 2016! Happy Holidays.
DeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays and remember, it's not a messy WORK table; it's a messy ART table!
Thanks, Texas Leigh -- ART-WORK -- both! Thanks for popping in to say hello and happy holidays to you too.
DeleteI have wanted to comment for a long time to tell you how much I love your blog! I had to answer this one since my good collage art comes from my messy desk and finding interesting combinations. I made tags for Christmas cards and every time I sat down to clean up, I found stuff for another tag! Thanks for a great blog!
ReplyDeleteAnnette -- I am so very happy you decided to comment this time -- thanks so much. I know exactly what you mean about finding stuff on your messy desk and creating tags or collages. I am just the same way....and isn't it fun to see what you will come up with? I'm so glad you like the blog. Happy Holidays and have fun creating in 2016.
DeleteYou know, my workng table looks totally the same. Actually while I'm working on some project, my whole room looks this way. My friend from www.stilusessaywriting.com tells me I'm a total disaster while I'm drawing something or doing other stuff and she is afraid to come into my place in this periods)
ReplyDeletemy whole room looks like that too....stacks of books piled on the floor.....ack!
DeleteThat looks like a perfect spot to inspire creativity.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a warm and fun Christmas and wish you lots of fun adventures in 2016.
Thanks, Christine H -- and right back at you! Hope you have a terrific 2016 with lots of art and adventures too. Yes, it is a pretty good spot to be creative...i love the hours I spend working there at that table....thanks for stopping by the blog and commenting.
DeleteWas just down in the studio, and there is not an inch of surface that isn't covered with STUFF! I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that precious little ad--so cool when those treasures turn up.
Linda -- yup....ont a inch that doesn't have something on it....I am trying to work fast and use everything! I like that little add too....
Deleteoops....ad....is what I meant to type...
DeleteLooks like I'm late visiting. VERY late. So late, I didn't get to wish you a merry Christmas. But of course, I hope it was.
ReplyDeleteI hope by now you found one of those little boxes so you can sort your stamps. I keep mine (I'm low maintenance) in a shoe box, sorted by type that I stick in closable baggies. I sort them, then label the baggie so I can find what I need quickly.
I have TONS of old stamps, but I've only seen one typewrite stamp and I used it several years ago. I think it was a forever stamp, but I've never seen another set of those stamps since then. Just one typewriter and I think the set was of mid-century modern images, like an old dial telephone and mixer.
I hope you have a beautiful (and safe) New Year's Eve and Day. Enjoy those new stamps, too.
Hi Elizabeth -- I know the typewriter stamp you mean.....Your idea of sorting them into baggies is a good one. But I am a little picky about my stamps I like those clear plastic boxes with dividers....and yes, I did get a bunch of them at the Japanese Dollar Store and I have been sorting my little brain out.....lol. It is fun.
DeleteMy Xmas was a fine one -- very quiet and cozy with my sweetie -- and NYE will be the same. A movie date and some champagne afterwards....
Happy New Year to YOU -- and all my blog readers. See you in 2016!
Thanks for the ongoing eye candy into your creative work! Love it. Inspiring and a bit envious too. I want to create like you do on a more regular basis!
ReplyDeleteYou are most welcome, Monica Lee! But what you don't do in quantity, you make up in quality -- I love your work! See you in 2016!
