2015 -- It's a wrap! |
I spent all day long in my studio today - January 1 - and what a wonderful way to start off the year. I wrapped up my 2015 datebook and added it to the stack. |
The 2016 datebooks are ready and waiting. Yup, two. I decided to make a larger one to record projects I work on and write down ideas....two is better than one, isn't it? And a bird in the hand.... |
Here's the back of the larger book -- my pal Monica had sent me a thank-you card a while back and it is too good not to use for something.... |
One of my 2016 goals is to get myself up to Portland for a PDXCC mail art meeting. I'm trying.... |
Wow, I love your creative start to 2016. Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteThanks, FinnBadger -- happy 2016 to you too!
DeleteSo inspiring! What a lovely way to start the new year.
ReplyDeleteMichelle -- thank you! It was a good start to the new year. I prepped a lot of mail art for friends -- now I have to finish it up.
DeleteYou reminded me, I have to switch my Filofax and such as well, woops, haha. Wish you a wonderful, mail filled 2016!
ReplyDeleteHope you get lots of good mail in 2016 too, TomoyoHime.
DeleteHope this year brings everything that makes you creatively fulfilled. xox
ReplyDeleteYou too, Corrine -- happy new year!
DeleteIt all looks so pretty and organized!
ReplyDeleteHow far back do those date books go?
Dori -- the datebooks don't go back as far as I thought they did -- 2008 i think -- but I have journals going back years and years.....
DeleteHappy new year! This year, I'm hoping to travel more to make up for not doing much of it in 2015. My traveling Mail Art kit will be packed up and ready to go.
ReplyDeletemim -- oh yes -- I have travel on my list again this year too -- I wonder where we will go? Don't you love a packed-up mail art kit?
DeleteWow, what a great start. Happy Days Pamela....
ReplyDeleteThank you, Dorothy! happy new year and hope to see you soon.
DeleteI appreciate the way you inspire your readers. My goal is to continue participating in mail art swaps, learn new collage techniques and try to do a little something creative each day. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteMichele -- sounds like a wonderful plan. I do something creative every day too, preferably first thing in the morning (after coffee). I am going to try to post more tutorials this year...hum....collage techniques...that might be a good one...Happy New Year!
DeleteA very happy new year to you Pamela. Seeing all those journals stacked together is very inspiring. And I bet starting a new one is too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Seth and happy new year to you too. Glad you enjoyed the stack of journals/datebooks and yes, it IS fun to have a brand new one (or two). Maybe I will run in to you at the Ink Pad next month........
DeleteI buy my diary, but keep a year book with all the fun things that I go to. Like museums, theater or creative courses. So I make a new one for 2016 and look through the one from 2015. So nice to see all those happy memories. Love you diary!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Nina -- I put all the fun stuff in mine too. A great way to look back and remember. Happy 2016 and hope you get lots of good mail and go to lots of museums too.
DeleteYES! pdxcc awaits you...with open arms! come, come!!! & happy new year!
ReplyDeleteThank you, miss polly -- I hope I get there! I'd love to meet all the PDX mail artists.
DeleteHappy New Year Pamela! Looking forward to a great Vintage Paper Fair in two weeks, thanks for the mention! I love flipping through my datebook at the end of each year when I transfer birthday's and anniversary's. Plans this year are to take a drawing class or two, journal constantly and add sketches, redecorate, figure out a backup plan professionally, keep discovering children's books and graphic novels and get to Portland every chance I can!

Hi Michelle -- I cant wait for the VPF and to see you!! Maybe we can sneak out for a coffee? (or I can bring you one). You go to Portland every chance you get? Maybe we should fly up there together! Your plans sounds great -- I will have to ask you about the children's books when I see you. I have some oldies. See you soon.
DeleteHappy New Year! I so enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteMiss Iowa -- I am so happy to hear that! Thank you and happy new year.
DeleteLife has been so busy that it doesn't even feel like a new year yet. December just blended right into January. I would like to send more mail though. I can always do that!
ReplyDeleteCindy -- I'm with you.....things have just been a little too busy.....let's hope we get a nice January to catch up. Happy 2016.
DeleteThat's a pretty fabulous list, Pamela! I just hauled my sewing machine out of the shed as well. I've had it since I was 16, so I suspect it's okay to use it for sewing paper now. It doesn't see much (any) action sewing fabric anymore! As for my list, for now I'll strive to create a little something everyday. I'd also like to learn how to draw.
ReplyDeleteAdrienne -- you are steps ahead of me. My sewing machine is still buried -- and unthreaded -- in a closet. But I will do it. Doing something creative every day is the best goal of all! Happy new year.
DeleteHappy new year Pamela! Love the wraps! Let's make 2016 a good one!
ReplyDeleteMarie W -- yes, lets? I owe you mail, pal. Sending soon. have a good one!!
DeletePortland? Let me know, girlfriend- would love to go and see ya. Your goals look like fun- I might NEED to copy your list...LOL. Happy 2016.
ReplyDeleteReally? isn't Portland kinda far from you? I'd love to see you, pal. I am still trying to make a plan....in between not wanting to anything but recover from "the holiday season"......xo
DeleteBeautiful projects, I love your post.
ReplyDeleteWhy, thank you so much, Eva A!
DeleteLove the date books. I'm still working on the basics for mine for 2016. Already stuffing memorabilia into a big envelope until I have my book. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThat certainly works, Cheryl -- I do that while traveling when I can't keep up with the travel journal. I am still working on my datebooks too -- it's fun. Happy 2016 and thanks for your comment.
DeleteThis is a great post. Happy you used the mailbox card I sent you. Lovely photographs and you gave me something to strive for-- clean up my studio and so I can work!
ReplyDeleteWell, Monica -- you saw yesterday when you stopped by the table top is none too clean at this point....but I am busy making stuff and having fun doing it. And I loved that card of the red mailbox you sent.
DeleteI'm only eight days late visiting, but had to stop by and say hello and a belated Happy New Year. Missed you at T, so wanted to make sure all was OK at your place.
ReplyDeleteFor me, organization and purging are ongoing events, and I plan to do it once a month this year. I also plan to use more and different tools in my arsenal, and without buying anything new, expand my mixed media art.
I hope you get to attend the Portland mail art meeting at least once this year, maybe more! That would be a very happy year, I'm sure.
Hi Elizabeth -- thanks for visiting. Sorry to miss T blogs but it seems I post about once a week and couldn't quite fit it into my blogging "schedule" but I will try to join in the fun every so often. I love to check in to see what you are up to.
DeleteI think I would be a lot more organized if I had more storage space. It is hard to put things away when there is no place to put them. But, of course, that could be because i have too much stuff. I always think I will use all paper ephemera in an art project soI keep it...
I am still working on portland -- but NYC is coming up fast first....
Happy New Year!
What fun! your postcards are really quite wonderful. I love the mix-and-match heads. Such a hoot!
