Typers!

Just thought I'd do a post as an Ode To Typewriters!
Share the love.

I find them irresistible.
I have resisted since I only have one. But that's probably because here
in San Francisco, I rarely see them for sale.

I mean, who could resist a turquoise typewriter?
It goes so well with red.

I would really like a script typewriter for my birthday.
In March. In case you are reading this. (Michael)
One can always hope.

The Red and Black ribbon is especially fetching, don't you think?

OUTGOING ENVELOPE
The typewriters (and manuals) have inspired many an envelope made by me.

INCOMING
And apparently inspired others - Rose P sent me this typewriter envelope from Australia.
Much appreciated.

OUTGOING POSTCARDS
And Karen sent me this beautifully carved typewriter stamp.
I am putting it to good use!

Ok, I doubt I will get a script typewriter for my birthday but I bet I  can count on lots of great mail!

Who else has a March birthday? Let's trade mail!
Mine is at the end of the month so there's time.
Aries all the way...

Hope you all have a good week of mail.
(And stay tuned for my next post -- there will be a "surprise" in it)

  1. I love typewriters! I like the really old ones :) Sadly, I don't have one.

    My birthday was March 2nd!

  2. I love old typewriters. This post & your last note made me want to search for ribbon for my old machine. This is the week to do that. Thanks for posting.

  3. that turquoise one is gorgeous. my new-to-me typewriter isn't pretty at all, but I still love using it. I wanted an IBM selectric because that's what I learned to type on in high school but they seem to fetch a high price (and my boring, rather-modern utilitarian machine was FREE!)

  4. Are these all yours? They look so immaculate. I was never very good at typing, so I appreciate computers and spell check and being able to back space to correct hings. What I miss about typewriters is the wonderful sound they make.

    1. Well, Happy Birthday Debbie--it is too late for any postal birthday wishes to arrive to the UK in time but if you want to go to my profile and email me your address I will send you a belated greeting.

  9. Saw a bunch in NC this week in an antique mall. Way overpriced and I doubted they would fit in my luggage, but.....it was fun to see them anyway - and birdcage lamps, they are big down there. xox Corrine

    1. Funny--a guy I know who is selling a few typewriters in his shop told me he couldn't GIVE them away even ten years ago and now that are hot.

  13. I'm an Aries, too, but with an April birthdate. Happy birthday to you! Great tribute to typewriters. I have my eye on getting one! I JUST recently stopped saying "typing paper" instead of the way everyone says "computer paper" now.

  14. I love typewriters :) I inadvertently began collecting them but had to let some go. I don't think I'll ever let my first one go though--even if it is missing the letter "f"!

  15. Of course the typewriters are adorable, but I can't quit looking at the giant "PG" stamp that you used on the inner-office envelope! Those are great - where did you get those?!
