Just thought I'd do a post as an Ode To Typewriters! Share the love. |
I find them irresistible. I have resisted since I only have one. But that's probably because here in San Francisco, I rarely see them for sale. |
I mean, who could resist a turquoise typewriter? It goes so well with red. |
I would really like a script typewriter for my birthday. In March. In case you are reading this. (Michael) One can always hope. |
The Red and Black ribbon is especially fetching, don't you think? |
OUTGOING ENVELOPE The typewriters (and manuals) have inspired many an envelope made by me. |
INCOMING And apparently inspired others - Rose P sent me this typewriter envelope from Australia. Much appreciated. |
I love typewriters! I like the really old ones :) Sadly, I don't have one.
ReplyDeleteMy birthday was March 2nd!
Happy (slightly belated) birthday, Olivia!
DeleteI love old typewriters. This post & your last note made me want to search for ribbon for my old machine. This is the week to do that. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteMim--get that new ribbon and start typing!
Deletethat turquoise one is gorgeous. my new-to-me typewriter isn't pretty at all, but I still love using it. I wanted an IBM selectric because that's what I learned to type on in high school but they seem to fetch a high price (and my boring, rather-modern utilitarian machine was FREE!)
ReplyDeleteWhatever works....or should I say whatever types?
DeleteAre these all yours? They look so immaculate. I was never very good at typing, so I appreciate computers and spell check and being able to back space to correct hings. What I miss about typewriters is the wonderful sound they make.
ReplyDeleteChristine, none of them are mine -- I only have one and it stays at home .
DeleteTypewriter party! I'll be there, and I'll bring marmalade!!
ReplyDeleteParty! Jane, these were taken at the last Letter Writing Social in February.
Deletehmmm... i don't miss typewriters at all. lol.
ReplyDeleteSend any you don't want to me, Catwrangler!
DeleteYour BIRTHDAY?!? Let's celebrate. As you know, I share your love of typewriters :) And loved seeing my "scripter" in your blog. She looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteSally--yes, your lovely script typewriter made an appearance and celebrate? Oh yes we must!
DeleteI have a birthday in two days time, 7th, I'd love to trade mail! Best wishes, Debbie UK
ReplyDeleteWell, Happy Birthday Debbie--it is too late for any postal birthday wishes to arrive to the UK in time but if you want to go to my profile and email me your address I will send you a belated greeting.
DeleteSaw a bunch in NC this week in an antique mall. Way overpriced and I doubted they would fit in my luggage, but.....it was fun to see them anyway - and birdcage lamps, they are big down there. xox Corrine
ReplyDeleteFunny--a guy I know who is selling a few typewriters in his shop told me he couldn't GIVE them away even ten years ago and now that are hot.
DeleteMy birthday is on the 16th ;-) All those pretty typewriters remind me of my favorite Nanowrimo poster

Oh, Annejo -- I will be sure to send you birthday greetings.
DeleteAnd I got your letter on Friday - thanks!
The mail is so slow at the moment, but at least things get to where they are supposed to go :-) Your birthday is at the end of March? I'll send something out on time then :D
DeleteHi, Barbara here (MIM'S FRIEND!). I'm writing 'cause your blog is really cool and my birthday is March 30th! It would be something if yours is on that day, too! I have a typewriter that uses daisy wheels!
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara -- a friend of Mim's is a friend is a friend of mine....my birthday is 3.26 so we are close. Another Aries, I see...Happy to hear you enjoy the blog. A typewriter with daisy wheels? like a Dymo maker? Cool...
DeleteYES! I have a Birthday in March....March 31st. ARIES POWER! Just gave birth to a beautiful baby Girl March 1st (Lily Ilene Winter). AND.... my Mother gave me her HS Olympia manual....just like the one on your post. I can't wait to tey it out. LIFE IS GOOOOOD!!!
ReplyDeleteMillicent--congratulations on your new baby girl! And a new typewriter too--very good. You'll be busy.
DeleteI'm an Aries, too, but with an April birthdate. Happy birthday to you! Great tribute to typewriters. I have my eye on getting one! I JUST recently stopped saying "typing paper" instead of the way everyone says "computer paper" now.
ReplyDeleteAndria--Most Aries are in April, not March. Happy soon-to-be Birthday to you. Hope you find a typewriter!
DeleteI love typewriters :) I inadvertently began collecting them but had to let some go. I don't think I'll ever let my first one go though--even if it is missing the letter "f"!
ReplyDeleteOf course the typewriters are adorable, but I can't quit looking at the giant "PG" stamp that you used on the inner-office envelope! Those are great - where did you get those?!
