Birthday Book for my Friend

A birthday book for my my special pal. It was really fun to make this.  Thought you all might like to see the pages and process.
It was a rush to the finish line to get this to her in time so I am going to work on some more pages for the book and send them on to her.
That way the party keeps on going on!
I hope she likes it!(It was fun to think up pages with things she likes like mushrooms & Squirrels)
(And yes, she already has the book -- I am not spoiling the surprise).
Now I am thinking of making myself a book like this....
what do you think? Should I?

And the STAMP GIVEAWAY from the post Put A Stamp On It -- I forgot to tell you guys the stamp winners in my last post so here goes --
(drum roll please)

miss polly -- I had to pick you because the comment you left was a riot! I am sending you some stamps to fondle all you want.
&

Dawn C -- loved your comment too and would love to see a card you make with stamps. Just leave a comment with your mailing address(I won't publish it).

  2. Wow, your birthday book is beautiful! Yes, you should make one for yourself, of all your favorite things! I love to make fun books for myself. I mean, that's what art is, right? Stuff you enjoy yourself?

(Got your address -- will mail out stamps asap. And do't stress about what you make with them -- just have fun!).

  3. Of course, you must make a book for yourself. If you give us the dimensions and where to punch the holes, perhaps those who are interested could send you pages for your book. Kind of like an autograph book, but with images.

  7. Gathering the best for you. That's a great friendship! And yes, you should definitely make one for yourself too! A kind of agenda/organizer/journal. Of all the books I made that's one kind I have never tried. Have fun!

    1. Mariw W -- guess what??? Remember all that COOL japanese paper you sent me a while back??? I cut it into pages and used a very old Japanese book for the front & back covers and I have a whole Japanese theme going on -- and I HOPE I will get back to Japan and take it with me. And did you see that Japanese website that published a book on all those fabulous rubber stamps they use on the trains???? I really, really need a trip to Japan......

  9. So just rings on their own, not a "ring binder"? 1-inch rings? Just curious, you know, "stay curious" ...

  12. Wow, oh wow. I was blown away by this. Great collage and beautiful art. Personal is always better than trying to buy a handmade gift that didn't include the very personal details. This is truly amazing.

Sorry I was so late getting here. Just got back from being without internet for four days. The longest four days of my life!

  14. Thanks so much, Adrienne -- it was fun to work on. Now I am trying hard to find time to make myself one. And I will post the page size very soon -- thanks!

  15. What size rings did you use for this book? I'm working on my first book like this and am ready to get my rings and wondered what size is best. Thank you!

    1. Leslie -- it really depends on the thickness of your book and how many pages you have. You can also chance the size of the rings to a larger ring when you keep adding pages to the book. I can buy them at the Japanese Dollar Store here in SF and I have all sizes so I just gage the thickness and pick a ring.....
