SF Correspondence Co-Op Meet-up A rainy (yay!) Sunday here in San Francisco and what better way to spend an afternoon than hanging out with mail art pals? |
Co-op Passport New artistamps for the royal passport! |
And more stamps....these made by JC the Burning Man postmaster.... |
SWAP TABLE There is always something fun on the swap table...this time I definitely brought more stuff than I took away....honest. |
Gift Bags We had a co-op members's birthday to celebrate and a couple of folks brought small gift bags. A very sharing group of people. There was some chocolate. |
Show & Tell There is always show-and-tell and BS brought two books she made.I had a great time fondling them and getting ideas I'm now inspired to try making a couple of new books myself myself..... |
I packed up one of my wonderful Dori Singh zippered bags with glue sticks and tape and filled up my water bottle (yes...with water...) and I was good to go! |
Another fantastic update about your mail art life. There seem like a large number of correspondence artists in your group - sounds like a good source of energy and inspiration.
ReplyDeleteFinnBadger -- I think there were about twenty or so at the meeting. And yes, a terrific source of ideas and inspiration....
DeleteHooray! It definitely looks like you had a fun time. I'm looking forward to the next Portland meeting!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe I will see you at a PDX meeting sometime, Tara.....
DeleteGreat to see you today. Looking forward to the collage class and a couple of weeks

Good to see you too, junkthief...and I am looking forward to that collage class....
Deletefun!
ReplyDeleteYou were there in spirit (& zippered bag), Dori!
DeleteOh, I only need to find a space and I would have those mail art gatherings every week!
ReplyDeleteTomoyoHime--sometimes an art store will host a meeting. We had had letter writing socials in two different stores -- and the library often will let you use a meeting room if the event is open to the public.
DeleteI received your goodie bag today!
ReplyDeleteMany many thanks! Have a great week!
Great! That didn't take too long, Susannia. Another is on the way. I am making up for lost time!
DeleteGreat group and so fun. I did a group doll making not long ago and we had so much fun. Going to try and do one, once we dig out from under the snow banks. xox
ReplyDeleteCorrine -- yeah -- dig that snow and have some some art fun!
DeleteThat's funny. Just now I was practicing "It's raining men" for my next karaoke evening. Well it's raining mail art in SF, lucky you! :-)))
ReplyDeleteMarie W -- I would have to have something other than water in my water bottle if I was going to sing karaoke........
DeleteThanks, Linda -- the passports filled with artistamps is so cool. I'm on my 4th one.....and yes, the swap table is a lot of fun too. The whole darn thing is fun!
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting a small group together for something like this...I really like the idea of the sharing table. Thank you for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteCindy -- I hope you do it -- it is such fun. You can always start small and if you get a big crowd you can usually find a venue to host a meeting. The swap table is really fun -- a good way to pass on things you have too many of or don't need. I have gotten some terrific rubber stamps at our swap. And hanging out with other people who share a passion for mail/art is so inspiring. I love when folks bring items for show-and-tell. We have demos too - e.g. how to fold an origami book, how to transfer images, etc Good luck!
DeleteLooks like such a fun day. I wonder if there's even a handful of people in Tracy with any clue what mail art is? Maybe I'll check with the library about their room...
