Collage Materials and the Library Sale
Ok, could you resist?
I did it again. Went to the library book sale at beautiful Fort Mason, right on the water. I missed the member's preview but there was still some great stuff to be found. Oh yes. After looking for several years, I found a College Typing Manual. And who can resist an old anatomy book? A better person than I. Creepy but cool. Some good images for collage. Or Halloween. And the yellowed pages in books in other languages? I think not. And in a falling apart old book covered in marbled paper were yellowing old newspaper clippings that someone painstakingly cut out and pasted in from a bygone era. And a beautiful letter in calligraphy (Chinese?) tumbled out of one book. And then there was I LOVE LUCY on the cover of an old Life magazine. And perhaps a message from God?
Now it's time to cut and paste. My rule is, if I bring it home, I've got to use it. Life around the home front is still nerve-wracking but I have been doing a lot of art. San Francisco weather is gorgeous and tomorrow I'm going to make a big pot of Fall soup and cut and paste all day while it simmers. And you? What are all of you planning on doing? OMG what a great haul! The typing manual is wonderful. And you've got almost a month to make creepy Halloween stuff with the anatomy book. I really need to follow part 2 of your post and actually USE all the stuff I've accumulated. Have fun!
Hey Leslie -- I think you are using your stuff -- the old photos for sure. And I got the red dot postcard yesterday and loved it. I have a few of those typing manuals -- made a whole lot of envelopes with them. Thanks for stopping by the blog!
Yeah Connie and I didn't even have to shove anyone to get to the stuff.....haha...just kidding. I wouldn't think of it. But having missed the members preview the sale was MUCH less crowded than when I normally go and I was surprised they still had some good finds.....
Now, that's what I call a library book sale! Ours are much smaller than that, but we have a lot of them in the area, so I certainly can't complain. How funny that you have shopping carts at yours! That could certainly come in handy. I'm always struggling around with multiple totes on my shoulders. I really like that typewriter book.
Andria--Sometimes it is so crazy at those sales that all the shopping carts are taken. I have lugged totes around many times -- and OooOoo books are heavy!
My mom always invites me to our local library book sale and I've never gone! I must go to the next one. You find the best treasures. I love the Lucy cover, the foreign books and the letter written in Chinese! Good job.
