Pop Up Shop! (An Experiment)

Want to buy a pocket book or three?

There was a lot of interest when I asked the question in my last post so I am trying an experiment.
This is kind of a free form pop-up but you guys are all cool, right? We can do free form.

These are cute little books with pockets that can hold money or  gifts cards or ephemera or travel souvenirs.
They make nice little gifts or maybe you'd like one for yourself?

I even made some Christmas inspired books with red pockets inside...

Coming to San Francisco? Or maybe you've been here already? A nice little souvenir for you with some Chinese joss paper tucked inside...I have multiples of this one...

So here is the free form plan...

Little books are $20.00 each plus $2.50 shipping

THREE books are $50.00
plus $5.00 shipping

Only USA Orders please

Comment below on which books you would like -- maybe what photo the book is in and a description e..g. "French Postcard book in first photo, bottom right"

Leave me a message with your email and I will NOT publish the comment. I will email you to see what books you are interested in and we can go from there...

So, that's the plan.
It would better if you all could just come over to my studio and pick them out and hang out a while.
I don't want to open an ETSY shop so I am just trying to make this work.
You blog readers are getting first pick but if I don't sell them quickly I am going to put them out on Instagram.
I"m just saying.

So, thanks for all your support and encouragement.

UPDATE:
I discovered that messages from Contact Me are NOT going through. I am so sick of Blogger. I need a new platform for my blog.

Some Inspiration for Making Your "What I Did This Summer" Album

Well, I don't know about you -- buy I'm going on a summer vacation and I'm going to make a  book about it!
I found this scrapbook at an estate sale recently ($28!!) and it is PACKED with old photos, vintage postcards and postcard folders and "real" photo tiny postcard sets.
How could I possibly resist?
(rhetorical question)

I couldn't tell much about who made this but they sure went all over  -- up and down the west coast from Mexico to Alaska & Canada and to Chicago and NOLA.
I am kind of miffed (don't you love that word?) that they didn't seem to visit San Francisco.
I would have loved seeing vintage SF.

I've been everywhere they went -- except for Tombstone!

So touristy -- so tacky -- but so much fun.

I bet they had a few margaritas too...you think?

The guy is standing in front of a rack of postcards. I want to shop.

New Orleans
I loved seeing the photos from these pages...

Cafe du Monde
How cool is it to see how Cafe du Monde looked in 1948. (I hope you see this, Mim).

The Nola cemeteries....

Old Absinthe House? And Bourbon Street.....so cool to see..

This photo should be up above by the Mexico photos...

No SF but they made it to LA and saw REAL MOVIE STAR houses....

OLVERA STREET
I love this one -- I visit Olvera Street every time I can get away with it. So fun to see it back before I was born...

Here is the couple who did all this traveling...Her outfit still looks pretty good...
these two sure seemed to have a whole lot of fun.

My pal Kelly P gave me this book just today and I am already making pages for it .
I'm going to put MY ephemera and photos and postcards from my summer trip in it.
Maybe someone will buy it at an estate sale or the Vintage Paper Fair some day and be as happy as I am with the scrapbook I just bought.

So, now are you inspired to make a "What I Did on my Summer Vacation" book?
Where are you going?
Be sure to send some postcards!

Treasures from the Berlin Flea Market

One of the things that fascinates me about old ephemera like this is wondering what  happened to the people who owned the ephemera. Many of the papers were and books like this (ration book?) were dated right before WW2. There are a lot of questions and thoughts to ponder.

See what I mean about turning the postcards over? The backs can  definitely be better than the fronts sometimes. I can look at old cursive writing for hours.
And postmarks too.

I love tiny photographs like these - perfect for cutting up and putting in my altered passport project. Unfortunately the one thing I didn't find at all the flea market I went to were old passports for my project.

This is a whole notebook filled with this cool writing. I think it is a student's notebook.

After the flea market we walked around and went into (one of Germany's many)  a bookstore. I was delighted to see a wall of book spines -- old book spines were embedded right into the walls. Very cool.

And, in Germany, there is ALWAYS cake.

I promised I'd show you some of my flea market finds, so here you go!  Now I am in the process of making books and journals and collages with a lot of the ephemera I found.
So much fun to use such wonderful old papers.

What are you doing over this long holiday weekend (here in the US)?
Well, I'm making things, of course.....and I might have some cake.
