Sunday Colors (Red, White and Blue)

This is blue all right. With a little red thrown in. I don't think that is an official US Postal Service sticker!

Red, white and blue and just waiting for you to pop in some mail to make someone's day.

Okay....

Mail 'em inside the PO or out....

There are a number of rules with the post office.

Sunday Closed. No fun.

Here's the white...

Get those flat rate priority boxes ready for shipping Christmas presents.
(I like to make them as heavy as possible to get my money's worth)

These babies will be back on the streets tomorrow,
so get some letters and cards ready to mail. And, have a happy and peaceful Sunday.

Desk

In between making pies and cranberry sauce today
(Thanksgiving is tomorrow, an American holiday, for readers out there from other countries)
I am working on making some cards and
envelopes
and trying to write a letter.

Just added a link (on the left) for a fun blog
from a girl in Hong Kong (as she says)
who will make envies and send them out free to anyone who asks -- check it out!

More Mail Boxes

These guys have seen better days
but I think they have character

(especially the one on the far right).

Kind of a country looking mail box in the city
right around the corner from my house.

Rather elegant, wouldn't you say?

Oh boy......

Now, this is really something - yup, it really is someone's mail box.

Not in SF but pretty close by
on the
Bohemian Highway.

Fill those beauties up.

Lots of great mail boxes around town, just waiting for some Mail Art
or a nice fat letter.

Remember, write a letter -- get a letter!

Cool Envelope

Maybe this envelope thing runs in the family.
My son made me these two wonderful envelopes years ago.
Why are kids so creative and free?

Today I am making new envelopes using the pages from the old typing manual.
Have a good mail day.

Sunday Colors (Green)

Lovely weathered shades of green.
Just thinking it might be fun to do a Colors post on Sundays.
Just something a little different for a change.

Green in Golden Gate Park
from the roof of the deYoung Museum.

We are always green in SF.

Always loved these giant leaves -- don't they look like something
Adam and Eve would have dressed up in?

Eat your greens.

Always something interesting in the Bay Area's Farmers Markets.
I want to try making that Nocino.

Green - with some pink thrown in.

The Zen Garden
One of my favorite spots in the Big Bad City.

Have  a restful and peaceful Sunday --
and write a letter today.

In and Out

Incoming from Donovan from the LWA.
Love the stamps
and what was inside was pretty great too.

Cool vintage stamps from RO.
The stamps weren't even cancelled.

Out to Annejo

And, to Carter, goes a big thank you
for the wonderful pack of vintage letters she recently sent.

And off to Sammie in Australia with some surprises inside.

These are my "fall collection" envelopes
but unfortunately I couldn't mail  the beautiful leaves with them.

Lots more going out and coming in
but in my eagerness to rush off to the mailbox or tear the envelopes
open I often neglect to photograph them.

Welcome to the mail lovers who are reading the blog all over
the world - Taiwan, Australia, Italy, Finland, the UK, Russia
Canada, the Netherlands and Malaysia!
Would love to hear from you.

Happy Mail Day Everyone!

Notes to the Letter Carrier

No, we don't want junk mail, do we?

But, packages are always welcome.

A little bossy, don't you think?

Why not this one?

Deliver the Letter
In my "mailbox walks" I have noticed lots of notes blowing in the wind like little flags.

I wonder, do the letter carriers read them?

Make it a Good Mail Day today!

Studio

My desk
Right next to a window and a good spot for drinking cappuccino
and writing letters
So many letters, so little time

Work in progress
I have a great big work table with lots of room for cutting and pasting and glueing and creating and teaching small workshops.

Work table
It isn't always covered in papers

Some mail supplies, notebooks I've made,
and a copy of Carolee and Jennie's fabulous book
Good Mail Day

(you all know about the book, right?)

And, thanks to my "followers" for the encouragement.
Hit Number 25 today.
Thanks.

Incoming

Heard from Alice in SF.
She photographed the John Held, Jr
Mail Art opening along with me

and our photos were on the Letter Writer Alliance blog together.

Some of the most thrilling mail to date -- SC sent me a big packet of old letters
between a WW2 soldier and his mother in the 40's.
Talk about history coming to life -- I can hardly put them down.

And great typing on that old tissue weight airmail paper

A Grand Central Station cancellation
Wish they still did that.

SC will be getting a great big Thank-You from me in the mail very soon.

And, from Jennie, some very cool old stationary
that she picked up at a garage sale in a cool envelope
(of course)

GOOD MAIL DAY

The Mail Box

Taking a walk around my neighborhood on a
beautiful San Francisco afternoon
I suddenly started noticing all the cool mail boxes I was passing by.

I decided I better whip out my ever-present camera and document these
beauties.

This one was hand painted

MAIL
A favorite word of many of us

Just waiting to be filled up

My favorite
Forms of Things Unknown
Could the owner of this one be one of us?
A mail person?
I wonder.
