| I've really been busy. Getting out a lot of mail but still not caught up. Making all kinds of things -- altered Rolo cards, Rolo Card a Day, greeting cards & postcard collages...and working on my Glue Book. My friend Patti made that fabulous cover and inside the beautiful covers is a Moleskin. |

| A Glue Book is just a new fancy pants word for an old fashioned scrapbook. But it does sound cooler. You just get a book and glue stuff you really like inside. |

| It is fun to sort stamps and I figured why not glue those little suckers into something, so I can look at them when I want? I sort by color -- by subject -- by country. |

| I add some washi tape and rubber stamps and air mail stickers, all in a postal them, of course..... the whole process is very calming. |

| This page was inspired by a fabulous workshop given by my pal Monica Lee at ScrapSF called Postage Stamp Art. Al I can say is, if you are in the Bay Area, sign up for ScrapSF's emails and check out the classes there and if you see this one by Monica JUST GO. (I digress) Anyway, I did go and spent three very happy hours playing with postage stamps and making things and getting LOTS of ideas, this being one. |

| I've got a lot more pages done and a lot more ideas but I thought it was time for me to just say hello. Plus, I know people haven't received all the mail I've sent out and I hate to ruin the surprises in their mailboxes so I have to wait to post some more photos. Hey--it's my birthday weekend and you know what that means -- cake! And fun and fooling around. And I am planning a mail art trip to Portland, after which there will be a full report. LOTS going on. ReplyDeleteI created a very large spread one time out of those $0.32 flower stamps. You have some I've never seen. Yours are glorious.
Of course, that goes for the other stamps, as well. Many of these I've never seen, and I'm not privy to many foreign postage stamps.
I LOVE the frames and the DO NOT BEND stamp. That is clever. You have SO many postage related stamps and images, I can't even begin to imagine how much fun you must have when you sit down to play.
Your art ALWAYS excites.
Well, thank you so much, Elizabeth....I am so glad you like looking and yes, I do have a lot of fun when I sit down to play! Thanks for the birthday toast too. I am lucky to have quite a lot of foreign stamps and I love all the tiny works of art. I got the frame idea from Monica too (credit where credit is due!). Thanks for the visit.

ReplyDeleteI was introduced to Vintage Glue Books using Moleskin through Mary Green back in 2010. It was a wonderful online class that sadly is no longer offered. I still like to do them though - so simple. Glue, scissors and paper. Love the idea of doing a stamp themed one - you've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteJewels - I never heard of that - interesting. I will try to look her up to see what she did...and you're right - it's so simple and fun. What type of ephemera have you been putting in your books?
DeleteI too am a fan of Mary Green. I have a collection of her images (saved on to my iPad for easy viewing) and I glance at them from time to time for ideas and inspiration. Glue books in Moleskins are neat. They're just the right size, I find.
DeleteI looked up Mary Green and I have actually seen her collages but didn't realize it was her. Don't you wonder what happened to her? I don't know how she could give up art after making such wonderful collages and glue books. It would be great to see what she is up to these days....

DeleteLOVE this little book, Pamela. It's a little treasure. It seems so easy to do, but you know, you do have to do some thinking to decide what to do, and then how to do it. This one is turning out great!

DeleteSo many great ideas! I love how you have organized your pages. My favorite stamps are the flowers, but I think the stamp tumbling out of the jar is great. I love the portrait ones too. Hard to pick a favorite.

ReplyDeleteThis is cute. I still haven't used any of my saved stamps for anything, but I have a book I call my junk journal that I use like your glue book. It's kind of silly how relaxing & fun it is to glue little pieces of nothing, or stickers into it, especially at the end of the week when I've tossed different things onto my desk to put in it.
tamdoll -- I did indeed -- there was mail and cake and lots of fun. I know, it is funny how relaxing it is to glue things into a book but why not?
