| Writing at the Library I love to hang out at the library for a while when I have time. They have big, beautiful wooden tables and comfortable chairs and and wifi and you are surrounded by books. And they often have flyers around that are good for using to write letters..... |

| Huntington Gardens, Pasadena CA It is always fun to sit outside and write some postcards and the beautiful Huntington gardens is one place that's fun to set up a writing station outdoors at a table. |

| Anytime I go anywhere a part of the fun is packing up a mail art kits, either large or small.... I love a road trip when i can bring A LOT of stuff, including my small portable typewriter, but I am good with going small on a plane too.... |

| Breakfast and Mail Art Home or traveling, I like to start each day with a little art of some kind. Gets the day started off right. What I did and what I didn't do ---- I don't really enjoy "holidays" so Thanksgiving isn't a big day around here. But I am thankful. Thankful for my wonderful blog readers, Instagram followers, FB blog readers and real life mail art pals who are so generous with good mail. It is a truly wonderful community we are in. I've found my tribe! So, thank you ALL. I certainly didn't get involved in the so-called Black Friday marathon of excess and shopping. Not my thing. I am making things for friends though. I can't show you you till after Xmas but I'm taking photos for you. I'm packing up a little travel bag for a very few days away now and you know I will be making some mail art. And, then, back to the studio for some more art-making.  Hope you all are having a good time these days......don't let the crazy "holiday season" make you crazy. Just make things and have some fun with friends and take care of yourselves. Have a cappuccino..... SEND GOOD MAIL -- GET GOOD MAIL |

DeleteBoy, that cappuccino looks good. Need to get inspired somehow and get my art mojo rolling again. A few things are changing around here that may help with that. Meanwhile, always fun to get a look at your busy-ness.
ReplyDeleteWell, Leslie -- have you broken out the sewing machine and started sewing those Tyvek pouches? That cappuccino was good! Too bad my favorite cafe is across town -- I can't have it as much as I'd like but when I do it is a real treat.

DeleteHow often are there people stopping next to you and asking you what you are doing? When I go on a Postcrossing meeting, and it is time to write cards, we always have to explain at least once what it is all about.
ReplyDeleteTomoyoHime -- yes, people do ask -- and often when i am out carrying a load of mail art to the post office, people notice the mail and ask about it. We need to spread the word!
DeleteAs always, you are so inspiring/encouraging when it comes to creating mail art. I have good intentions to make mail art when I travel but usually have to settle for buying local cards. Enjoy your getaway!

DeleteYou're right - this is one hobby you can easily take with you to many places without a lot of supplies! Fun pictures, being outdoors in a sunny spot is my favorite.

DeleteGreat post. My hotel room table looks like this quite often! I am always bringing my mail kit on my trips. My most recent portable-postal place was last weekend when my sister and I went to a holiday boutique and I was waiting outside in the courtyard (perfect AZ weather) and I was able to write a couple of postcards while waiting. Always be prepared to write or create.

And love sitting in a hotel room tearing up maps and brochures (I'm so in to tearing rather than using scissors these days). Thanks for your posts. They are so much fun to read and pour over your pictures :-)
ReplyDeleteThank so much, Margarete -- I pour over the posts of the books you make too. I prefer tearing to cutting also -- love the rough edges. Oh yes - I want to see a photo of your mail art kit. I love all the various kits and have done a few posts about them. I am so lucky to have a number of cool postal pouches to pack mine in and they are always pretty simple but a glue stick and double stick are always included.
