So, there you see it! These books are a lot of work but really fun to make, if you are so inclined. They are easy too so don't be afraid to jump right in.
My pal Monica is ready to pummel me....I am holding up our origami posts on our two blogs. I have worked on my origami wallet post twice and was ready to publish it when I had my "tester" try to make a wallet from my instructions on the blog.....FAIL. Even though he can put just about anything together, including stuff from Ikea, he couldn't make the wallet. He could ALMOST do it but he says the directions weren't clear enough. Soooooo I guess I will work on that darned post some more.....but it is very tempting to just go ahead and post it -- you creative types just might figure it out... In the meantime, the altered books are pretty and maybe you'll get inspired to try making one.

The PenPal/mail Art Exchange post was kind of a bust....I was surprised because I am always hearing from people who are looking to trade mail with. I honestly thought lots of folks would sign up for trades. Go figure.
I will leave it up as a Featured Post for a while in case anyone is interested.
And, that's all the news that's fit to print, folks.
See you next time!

What a fabulous, thoughtful gift for your friend! I need to put that idea on my To Do List!
ReplyDeletethank you, cjsrq! Now I've got to do some work on the book I am making for myself.....
DeleteExcellent book! But why do you think the Mail Art blog post was a bust?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cheryl. I think the mail art post was a bust because I had thought lots of people would sign up in the comments to trade mail and very few people did. People ask me all the time about trading so it seemed there was the interest out there.
DeleteAlthough you did mention leaving contact info in the comments, I went to all the individual sites you mentioned. I consider myself very reliable yet I hesitate to make new long term commitments for fear of letting someone down!!!
DeleteI understand!
Deletefun book and fabulous present!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cat!
DeleteThank you for reminding me about the mail art blog post! I wanted to check it again, but kept forgetting to do so. I just sent an email to someone, hope I'll get a positive reply!
ReplyDeleteYour book looks great. One day, when I have a studio and can lock the cat out, I am so going to experiment with bigger projects like that.
Good luck, TomoyoHime -- hope you find a new person to trade mail with. That is funny -- you have to lock the cat out?
DeleteMy Pumpkin loves to help me with everything I do. He sits on top of everything, runs over everything, plays with everything,... And I can't close any door, or I would have to move around his stuff.
DeleteHa ha...funny....is Pumpkin an orange kitty?
DeleteNo, he is grey striped, with a white chest. I named him after a jack o' lantarn, the light's on, but nobody's home... I am mean that way, haha.
DeleteFrom someone else who's a horse nut, what a great book!! I love it. The horseless carriage made me laugh too. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad, Pie Poster -- as it turns out, there are lots of horse lovers out there.....
DeleteWhat a perfect birthday treat for a horse-lover! I think it's neat that you have a "tester" for your tutorials to make sure they are clear...I never even thought of that! But yes, perhaps you could put it out there and see if it's clearer to people who already often work with paper (that's assuming your tester does not). Just saw your featured post, and I'll add my info. Never a bust if even a single connection is made!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andria -- and great to see you back, both here commenting on my blog and posting on yours! I might just go ahead and post the origami post and hope for the best.....a video probably would be best but I couldn't pull one off...
ReplyDeleteA video would be great! Never say never... you can do anything you set your mind to!
DeleteYour textures and colours are always fantastic, Pamela. That's what talent and fun does, I guess. Kelly must be chuffed! Xxx
ReplyDeleteMarie W....you crack me up....chuffed.....
DeleteThis is a remarkable book. It would fit right in with my theme of recycling this month, too. I think it is great that you stuck to your theme and used the horse stamps you are obviously saving. This is a wonderful gift and I KNOW your Aries friend loved it, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Elizabeth -- so nice to know you like the book. I think my friend did too.
DeleteI love your altered book. I do these a lot, they are so much fun. I have always called them "mini books" and do them with a variety of themes. Well, I for one am glad you did the mail art post - I have found new new mail pal and just got an email from another yesterday. So, it worked for me! :)
ReplyDeleteDawn C -- so glad you made some mail art contacts! Good luck. And happy to read you like the book too.......I am glad the post is working out for a few folks.
DeletePamela,
ReplyDeleteWow what a great collection of horse ephemera! I bet she loved the book!
Thanks Monica -- I sure hope she loves it!
