Mixed Various

Yesterday I went over to my pal Monica's studio and that is always fun. Trust me. If you ever get the chance to go to Monica's studio, you want to go.
There is always so much to look at and I always learn something new too.

Our plan was to do two different origami folds and photograph each other doing each step. We were going to post one fold on each of our blogs but technical differences have caused problems in our plan.....I'm not sure when they will get figured out but I will show you the origami wallet fold pretty soon....I promise....what we need is a techie expert on blogs/blogger etc to help Monica get her blog back in business -- any volunteers out there?

She let me play with her Big Shot die cutting machine.....whoa....I never knew how much fun it is to cut out little envelopes and things.....now I want one for my birthday.
Maybe you guys can take up a collection?
(just kidding!)
(well kidding about taking up a collection but I would like one for my birthday...)

I did return home with a pile of various sizes of envelopes to play with....

And, being the way we are, we had to go out for a terrific lunch of spicy minced pork in lettuce wraps and roti (bread) with curry dip......

Now, it is pouring rain and I am hanging out in my studio with this guy....

I've been altering old envelopes with watercolors, rubber stamps and foreign postage stamps...

And prepping new envelopes with rubber stamps...

I've been making LOTS of wallets in all sizes...very easy and very fun...it took me years to find out how to do it and now that I can there is no stopping me.

I've been working on a few altered book pages....

Sending some good mail out...

A friend gave me these cards and I just had to add some little stamp heads to them..
I just can't leave things alone.
Worked on a pocket letter....but gee...those things are A LOT of work. It is like making nice ATC's.

I was going outside to shoot some photos for the blog but the rain stopped me. It is so wonderful to hear it pounding on the rood right now. Poor dry California really needs it and I, for one, do like to take showers so keep it coming!
I guess I better post this and get back to work on the various projects I've got going.....a rainy day is a good day to make things.
But then, every day is a good day to make things, right?

    1. TomoyoHime -- Thanks for the tip. I probably won't buy one but they sure are fun to play with, aren't they? And, I ended up liking the gelli prints the next day....they are altered book pages now....with collage over them.

  4. I do hope that you and Monica can figure out your techie issues (sorry I'm no help at all) because whatever the two of you come up with will be wonderful! I'm not familiar with a Big Shot so will need to check it out....although I really don't need to add any more "stuff" in my studio! LOL! Your wallets are quite enticing, filled with so much mail goodness. BTW, did the pages I sent fit in your collage journal OK?

    1. cjsrq -- the journal pages are fantastic and thank you! They fit perfectly and they inspired me to get busy making my own pages. A thank you will be coming very soon (if only I could clone myself and get everything done faster!). I will do an altered book post and you'll see your pages in it....I hope Monica can figure out what's wrong soon too. Her blog just seemed to vanish from blogger and she can't post......

  10. I was thinking of you today while I was making a spread of NYC for my 7 Continents altered book. I love what you do and all the art mail you make.

I especially enjoyed seeing you use that Big Shot. My friend Kathy gave me her old one, BUT, I have only ONE die for it. Dies are expensive, so I'm going to ask for some for my birthday (GRIN).

Looks like you had a FUN time with your friend. I would love to be able to come hang out and make art with you. You make it sound so exciting, and know the best places to eat, too!

    Have a super Sunday, dear.

    1. Oh--so nice of you to say that, Elizabeth. I wouldn't mind if someone gave me a Big Shot for my birthday -- a used one would be fine! lol You can get the dies using the 40% off Michaels and JoAnn coupons....I'm just sayin'.
I wish you could come over and hang out and make art with me too. It is such fun and I definitely do know all the great places to eat in SF. Happy Sunday to you too.

  11. Never a dull moment in your world. My big shot just got jammed, have to take it apart and see if I can fix it. I will say I don't use it all that much anymore, used to do more so, but now that it's jammed, of course I want it. Right? Ha.

    1. Uh Oh...jammed...I bet you can fix it, Corrine. Monica uses hers in her workshops and even all her students haven't managed to wreck it so I bet you can fix yours up.....not too many dull moments in world, for sure.....Aries don't like dull. LOL

  13. So much paper goodness here. I've been making some wallets via Monica's how-tos, and had been wondering what happened to her blog - so I messaged her via Facebook to see if I can help.
